Introduction
Hi, my name is Sally McGrath and I have lived with dogs nearly all my life.
I have had Cocker Spaniels, German Shepherds and currently have two very
gorgeous Border Terriers.
I love all animals but my passion is for dogs and horses. Unfortunately, I
do not own my own horse but I ride out regularly at a local stables and have
been for over 35 years! It was my love of horses that first got me interested
in Amichien Bonding, this method of understanding our dogs.
I went to see the Horse Whisperer, Monty Roberts, who came over from the States to
demonstrate how he had developed an understanding of the horses he lived and
worked with and how they communicated with each other. By studying how horses
behaved with each other, Monty realised that rather than expecting these animals
to understand us and what we wanted from them, surely it would be kinder and
easier for the horses if we were to understand them. After all, aren't humans
supposed to be the superior species.
What I witnessed that evening blew me away! It was the most amazing thing
I have ever seen; Monty working with these magnificent animals in such a kind,
calm, consistent & effective way. It literally moved me to tears.
It also made me think that if Monty could do this with horses, then we must be
able to do this with dogs. This was exactly what Jan Fennell, Founder of Amichien
Bonding thought too when she went to see Monty Roberts.
I heard of Jan's work some years later and after taking on a rescue GSD of 4 months
old, "I thought it was time to put my money where my mouth was"!
I bought her first book THE DOG LISTENER and I was hooked.
I went on to read Jan's second book THE PRACTICAL DOG LISTENER and then some years
later found the courage and conviction to enrol in her courses to learn more about
this fantastic method of communication and understanding our dogs.
I passed both the Foundation and Advanced Courses in the Canine Communication and am
now qualifed to help others deal with any problems their dogs may be experiencing.
